While, on Rottentomatoes, the film was rated 16% base on male views and it had been reviewed poorly. The critics stated, “Although the film could be seen as gratifying by it’s feminist views, but the film hardly has emotions or comedy to be labeled as a good romance movie, the soft Sex Tape was absent of cinematic potential. On Metacritic it was given a score of 36 out of 100, which shows that at best the movie was bad.” While audience reactions were mixed, CinemaScore polls were more in line the average grade of “C+.”

After “Sex Tape” came out, Cameron Diaz did not appear in any substantial projects in 2014, whereupon she took a break from acting. But she did take break for slightly over ten years until it was reported that she would return alongside Jamie Foxx in Netflix’s “Back in Action”, slated to be released in the year of 2025.
Final Overview:
The purpose of filming “Sex Tape” was to provide a comical interpretation of the dynamics of modern romantic relationships and the possible flaws that could present themselves while negotiating with technology. The film performed decently at the box office, additionally the reception gave evidence on how difficult seam focusing on emotion sensitive scenes while at the same time having over the top humour. The long acting career of Cameron Diaz shows how violent the swings of the film industry and the audiences of the movies can be.
