Synopsis:

In this tense eco-thriller and engaging political commentary, the film explores the unreliable relationship between mankind and nature’s biodiversity. Set in an apocalyptic future dominated by, the lack of regulation on industrialization and corporate dystopia is what caused the eco crisis the earth has now. Elara Voss, the main character, a wildlife biologist, comes across an unsettling conspiracy that links a multi-national corporation to the illegal experimentation on endangered animals that seek to profit from these hybridized animals.

Elara (Saoirse Ronan), befriends Kai (John Boyega), a disgraced journalist trying to make up for his history, Elara is adamant in trying to expose the reality and together the two work to fight against eco-terrorism and cooperate espionage putting themselves in dangerous situations to dig deeper. Saoirse Ronan Powerful as Elara Voss: Saoirse plays the role of a dedicator scientist with great efficacy, one who is crippled by her sympathy towards the animal kingdom. A wide range of emotions such as vulnerability and rationality are encompassed in the role that Saoirse plays, allowing Elara to be an interesting character in the movie.

John Boyega Starring as Kai Turner: The actor does a commendable job portraying a disillusioned journalist, fusing together warmth and emotional intelligence to his character which is a mix of justice and time as well.

Cate Blanchett as Evlyn Ward: Blanchett’s character as the Chang corporation CEO is quite the opposite of a dog lover, her rationalization processes for the actions of the company seem to exude a sense of danger and uncertainty as she plays her feline like active character with great detail.

Oscar Isaac as Dr. Alan Graves: Isaac in a very nuanced way performs the role of the geneticist who was torn since he was the one behind the chimera project. He is quite believable in performing the role of a man who suffers from ethical turmoil due to his scientific dreams.

Florence Pugh as Talia Reed: Pugh plays the role of an eco activist who goes against the tactics used by elara who acts as a fervent voice of passionate idealism unashamedly.

Citizen Animal which was under the directorship of John krzillowsi, depicts his style of narrated intimate human drama portrayed alongside visually narrated engaging enormous stories. The composition by Ludwig goransson contains pieces that contrary to each other and are inspired by nature enhancing the experience of the film overall.

Themes and Analysis:
