The Deepest Dark Secrets is a Bollywood movie directed by Vivek Agnihotri, and it is a suspense drama similar to the Hollywood movie The Usual Suspect, released back in 2001. The movies are based on a group of Indians theft that didn’t go as expected and the events leading to that theft. As the events unravel Whoopsie (Irrfan Khan) has some clues that lead the story to Krish (Anil Kapoor) a lawyer who seems to be embroiled in a plethora of lies. The movie also has elements of betrayal, deception and shocking revelations as Whoopsie’s testimony is spun around numerous clues.
The movie starts with a crime that took place in a nightclub including a shootout with lots of money and quite a few dead bodies. Krish, the lawyer is to defend the accused which does so jumping into a sea of lies consisting of skeletal batters of ghosts, ricky(sunil shetty), Sim(Tanushree Dutta), Deva(Arshad Warsi) and monsoon(Sushma Reddy), to which they were all from single group and cross paths. ”Who Rogivanja Surrogate”After all does not help seems as the ‘Does not he Ragging’, role of warning plunder change fashioned would a child sociopath, rather then Zana Khan strive reconstructed. Gradually the group turns into a dangerous smuggler gng with conflicting factions.
With each revelation that Krish uncovers, the story concept becomes thicker and more complex, intertwining terms such as loyalty, trust manipulation, and betrayal. And then finally the end manages to fully change the story around leaning towards more dramatic.

Anil Kapoor as Krish Srivastava
The intensity within Anil Kapoor’s character is multi-layered, sharp and morally tainted, and more so, it is his heavy performance that serves as the crux of the film.
Irrfan Khan as Pipi
Not only does Khan do justice to the role of an unreliable narrator, but also shines in the film with his complex and layered performance. His amalgamation of humor, vulnerability, and menace constitutes to the film’s captivating storyline.
Suniel Shetty as Ricky
Suniel Shetty has been able to deliver a strong performance in Ruben’s motion picture, especially in the hero films where the leader remains enigmatic, and the reason why he becomes that is still a mystery.
Arshad Warsi as Deva
With the intense drama that commands the film, Warsi notes some light comedy that serves on the side, as he also balances the story with his wit and charm. Deva instantly becomes a character that carries comic relief in what otherwise is a rather dark film.
Tanushree Dutta as Sim
Dutta does the role of the women’s vixen absolute justice, ensuring that she maintains a persona that encompasses decency while also ensuring that the sexual decision made by the character are heart throbbing in nature.
Sushma Reddy as Monsoon
Reddy’s seamless performance as the undisputed member of the group confirmed that silence speaks volumes, and that in fact does add to the film.

Vivek dis also not shy in shocking the audience by setting the scene of mystery and crime, Peculiarly, the writing indicates that there more to it than overly linear narration and strong visuals as Agnihotri employs a great deal of suspense since there are several flashbacks in the film.

Deceptive Tactics
As the title suggests, Chocolate has characters that are deceitful which is a dominant piece of the narrative where most characters are concealing some form of truth, this is complemented with intertwining fibs and ambiguity that retains the audiences interest.
Ethics
The film unveils the other side of ethics where the will for survival transcends logic and reason.
Faith and Treachery
Characters do not trust each other and each suspect has some kind of motive, this is ideal for the corrosion of all these bonds and hence makes true sense to the storyline.
Power Structures and Self
The role of identity and the emergence of new relations within a group under stress are addressed in the context of the film Chocolate with Pipi representing the voice of the unreliable narrator and Krish making some sort of conclusions.
Visual Aids
Visually the film is dark and has profound themes with elements of hope and deception. The dreary streets of London and Dimly lit rooms are a perfect stage for deception and falsehoods. The camera work portrays a sense of primal horror and the story is riddled with flashbacks which are intertwined with the real story creating non linear narrative.
Critical Reception
The film received mixed reviews from the critics but was definitely appreciated for the acting rookies, Irrfan Khan and Anil Kapoor. While the film had a non-linear narrative structure which and a twist to the end, some found it entertaining while others argued it was overused as a concept.
On IMDB, the film gathered a rating of 6.3/10, indicative of its varying reception amongst the masses as it was appreciated however heavily criticized for its slow pace.
Audience Reception
Thriller lovers did appreciate the film as well, but for all the different reasons. They enjoyed the plot twist and the strong acting especially by Irrfan Khan, however a number of audience members criticized the film as they found it too complicated and dull.
Conclusion
Though the film does not have that many advantages but sure does have ambition and an interesting concept which can be noted down as good for the film. With all that said, it will not be wrong to say that, Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets is a great addition to the Bollywood thriller site.
